Windows 10 Installation Failure

I’ve assembled a brand new PC with all new parts, but when I attempt to install Windows from a USB drive, it doesn’t display the installation options. Instead, it shows the Windows logo as if it’s already installed, and after a brief 2-second delay, it reverts back to the initial boot screen and loops indefinitely.

Hey there, sorry to hear that your Windows 10 installation is giving you trouble.

First, let’s rule out some basic stuff. Have you checked that:

  1. Your USB drive is properly plugged in and detected by the BIOS?
  2. You’ve set the USB drive as the first boot device in the BIOS settings?
  3. You’re using a genuine Windows 10 installation media (ISO file) and not some shady download?

Assuming all that is in order, here are some potential solutions to get you out of this loop:

Try resetting the BIOS settings to their default values. Sometimes, a fresh start can do wonders.

If that doesn’t work, try disabling Secure Boot in the BIOS settings. This feature can interfere with the installation process.

Next, let’s try to force the installation media to boot in legacy mode. To do this:

  1. Restart your PC and press the key to access the BIOS settings (usually F2, F12, or Del).
  2. Set the USB drive as the first boot device.
  3. Save the changes and exit the BIOS settings.
  4. Immediately start pressing the F7 key repeatedly until you see the “Select boot device” menu.
  5. Select the USB drive from the list.
  6. You should now see the Windows installation options. If not, try the next step.

If you’re still stuck, try recreating the installation media using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool. This will ensure you have a clean and correct ISO file.

Lastly, if none of the above works, try installing Windows in UEFI mode instead of legacy mode. To do this:

  1. Restart your PC and press the key to access the BIOS settings.
  2. Set the USB drive as the first boot device.
  3. Enable UEFI mode (if it’s not already enabled).
  4. Save the changes and exit the BIOS settings.
  5. Boot from the USB drive again.

Hopefully, one of these solutions will get you out of this installation loop and into a fresh Windows 10 install. Good luck
