Update Sign-in Phone Number: Changed Phone Number, Need New Verification

I need to update my sign-in phone number as it's no longer valid and was my only verification method.

Hey there!

Updating your sign-in phone number on Outlook is a pretty straightforward process, especially if you’ve changed numbers and need to set up a new verification method. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Access Your Outlook Account Settings

  • Log in to your Outlook account using your current login credentials.
  • Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the page and select ‘View all Outlook settings.’

Step 2: Navigate to the Account Settings

  • In the settings page, click on ‘Account’ from the left-hand menu.
  • Scroll down to the ‘Security’ section.

Step 3: Update Your Phone Number

  • Click on ‘Update’ next to ‘Phone number’ under ‘Security info.’
  • Enter your new phone number and follow the prompts to verify it.

Step 4: Add an Alternate Verification Method (Recommended)

  • While you’re there, consider adding an alternate verification method like an authenticator app or a security key. This ensures you can still access your account if you lose access to your phone.
  • Click on ‘Add method’ under ‘Security info’ to set up your preferred alternate method.

Step 5: Review and Save Changes

  • Review your updated settings to ensure everything is correct.
  • Click ‘Save’ to apply the changes.

That’s it You should now be all set with your new phone number as the sign-in method, and have an additional layer of security with the alternate verification method. If you encounter any issues during the process, feel free to ask, and I’ll do my best to help out.
