Cant Call Specific Contacts

Hello,

A user in our organization is having trouble making team calls to a specific person.

This user also experiences similar issues with other people, but only in the New Teams environment. The problem seems to occur randomly and intermittently.

Can anyone offer guidance on how to resolve this issue?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that a user in your organization is having trouble making team calls to specific individuals, particularly in new Teams. There are a few potential causes and solutions to this issue. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check Teams Permissions and Settings: Ensure that the user has the necessary permissions to make calls. Navigate to the Teams Admin Center, and check if the user has the appropriate licenses, such as Microsoft 365 Phone System, to make VoIP calls. Also, verify if the user’s profile settings allow for calling and if the necessary add-ons are installed.

  2. Network and Connection Issues: If the user is experiencing intermittent connection drops or poor network quality, this might cause the issue. Suggest they run a speed test to ensure their internet connection meets the recommended bandwidth requirements for Teams. Also, ask them to check their firewall and network settings to ensure they are not blocking the Teams app.

  3. Software and App Updates: Ensure that the user is running the latest version of the Teams app. Sometimes, an outdated version can cause compatibility issues. Also, check if there are any pending Windows or OS updates that may be affecting the Teams app.

  4. Contact Information and Syncing: It’s possible that there’s an issue with the user’s contact list or how contacts are synced. Encourage them to check their contacts list, and ensure that the specific contacts they’re trying to call are well-synced and correctly listed. They might need to update or refresh their contact list.

  5. Teams Version and Compatibility: If the user is experiencing issues only in the new Teams environment, it might be a compatibility issue with specific features. Suggest they try switching to the classic Teams version temporarily to see if the issue persists. If the problem disappears, it could be related to a feature in the new Teams that’s causing the trouble.

  6. Microsoft Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, I suggest contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance. They can dig deeper into the specific configuration and settings of your organization to identify the root cause.

Let me know if any of these steps help resolve the issue.
