App (Site) Displays Unwanted Cross and Lock Icons

A strange "x" and lock icon have appeared in my browser, as shown in the image below. It's really distracting.

I'm having trouble focusing because of it. If anyone knows how to hide or remove it, please let me know. I'd really appreciate it.

Hey there, I’ve had that annoying issue before too It’s actually a feature that shows up when a site is requesting permissions for certain actions. Here’s how you can get rid of it:

The “x” and lock icons are indicators for permission requests. The “x” means the site is asking for permission to access your microphone or camera, and the lock icon indicates the site is requesting access to your location.

To remove these icons, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Site Permissions Panel:

    • Click the three dots in the top right corner of Microsoft Edge.
    • Select Settings.
    • Scroll down and click Cookies and site permissions.
    • Click Site permissions.
  2. Manage Permission Requests:

    • Locate the site that’s causing the issue.
    • Click the three dots next to it.
    • Select Edit.
    • Adjust the permissions as needed (e.g., toggle off Camera, Microphone, or Location).
  3. Reset Permissions (Optional):

    • If you want to reset all permissions to their default state:
      • Go to Cookies and site permissions.
      • Click Reset permissions.
      • Click Reset to confirm.

After making these changes, the unwanted icons should disappear. If you’re still having issues, try restarting your browser or checking for any extensions that might be causing the problem.
